Josh Corner and Nikki Coates took a Heat win apiece this afternoon – but Barry Burrell still leads the points ahead of tomorrow’s final Main Event.
Heat One began as a three-way battle between Corner, Burrell and Scott Carson but became a two-man scrap when Carson crashed on lap Six.
Burrell led for much of the race, but Corner was never far from his rear wheel, pulling some big moves in a bid to get past his rival and eventually making one stick on the final lap, crossing the line just 0.058secs ahead.
Kieran Smith managed to hold off James Ellison to take third as Joe Walton rounded out the top five.
Heat Two, meanwhile, was all about Coates. Thomas Strudwick hit the front into the first corner but Coates was ahead by the end of the lap and quickly built a buffer behind him.
Coates was able to coast to the line, building the gap to just over four seconds to Strudwick who was second, as James Bull was third, Christian Smith fourth and Mason Johnson fifth.
Burrell goes into tomorrow’s main event with a 13-point lead over Coates, with Corner just 1.5 points behind Coates.
