Ryde focused on maintaining the advantage

Kyle Ryde leads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings into the penultimate round of the season this weekend at Oulton Park, with the Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha rider fully focused on maintaining his advantage ahead of the finale.

Defending champion Ryde has a 31-point lead ahead of this weekend’s three races, but knows that his closest rival Bradley Ray was victorious at the Cheshire circuit earlier in the season. 180 points remain from the final six races of the season, with 105 available at the season finale, so a strong weekend is crucial in his bid to secure consecutive titles.

Ryde said: “I am looking forward to going back to Oulton Park. Last time I was there, I didn’t have a bad weekend but I wouldn’t say it was my best. Obviously, it was the first round so I was just trying to get things started and out some points on the board.

“I’m going to have to pull my finger out as it’s a good track for Brad, he did have the lap record in both qualifying and the race before Leon nicked it, but I’m looking forward to going back and getting stuck in. I’ve been riding really well at the minute in the wet or dry, so hopefully we can leave Oulton Park with a points’ gap going into Brands Hatch.”
