Ilya Mikhalchik celebrated victory in the opening race of the MotoGP weekend at Silverstone, returning to the top step of the podium for ROKiT BMW Motorrad, holding off Luke Mossey by 0.279s at the chequered flag.
Mikhalchik had taken the lead at the start of the race, beginning to bridge an advantage over Mossey before the BMW Safety Car was deployed on lap five when James Ellison crashed out. The Ukrainian maintained his edge when the race resumed two laps later and held off the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda rider over the closing laps.
Josh Owens moved into third place on lap eight, whilst Tom Ward moved into fourth place on the final lap ahead of Matt Truelove.
