Bradley Ray stormed to the top of the times in the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free Practice at Donington Park this afternoon, setting the benchmark early in the session to hold a 0.045s advantage at the chequered flag.
Leon Haslam stormed into second in the closing ten minutes on the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing, nudging Rory Skinner back into third place on the Cheshire Mouldings Ducati.
Reigning champion Kyle Ryde began his home round by moving up the order into fourth place on the OMG Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha, 0.172s separating him from Glenn Irwin on the Hager PBM Ducati.
Rookie Scott Swann was sixth fastest on the SendMyBag Racing by IWR Honda, just ahead of Tommy Bridewell and Max Cook who completed the top eight riders. Danny Kent was ninth fastest despite a crash that ended his session prematurely for the McAMS Racing Yamaha team and Josh Brookes who completed the top ten.
