Quattro Group British Supersport: Stapleford wins, rookie Bayliss second

22 June 2025

Luke Stapleford and Oli Bayliss powered to a Macadam Triumph one-two in today’s Feature race – as defending champion Jack Kennedy crashed at the start of the race.

Honda Racing UK’s Kennedy came a cropper seconds into the race as he tipped off just before Turn One, collecting Joe Talbot on the way and taking them both out of the race.

Rhys Irwin took the lead on the opening lap with Stapleford behind, as Lee Johnston settled into third with Bayliss fourth, the Aussie rookie soon passing Johnston to move third.

On Lap Five, Stapleford made a move on Irwin for the lead, holding it for a handful of laps before Irwin came back on Lap Nine to hit the front. Stapleford, however, was having none of it and was back past a lap later.

As Stapleford built a bit of a gap ahead, Bayliss made a move on Irwin on Lap 11 to move second, playing the perfect wingman to his team-mate as the pair powered to the line.

Stapleford won by 2.128secs over Bayliss, with Irwin third, Ben Currie fourth and Dean Harrison fifth.

Keo Walker was the best of the Cup riders, taking the class win ahead of Joe Farragher, with Stephen Thomas third.
