Nikki Coates got the better of points rival Barry Burrell as he out dragged him to the line to secure today’s Main Event race win.
From pole, Burrell took the lead at the start as James Bull came through from the second row into second as Coates slotted into fourth. Coates wasted no time in getting past Richard Cooper for third and then Bull for second, before finally taking the lead on Lap Six.
But Burrell wasn’t done and kept right on his tail, making a move for the front on the penultimate lap but Coates came straight back.
On the final lap, Burrell scythed up the inside at Sheene Curve and despite looking to hold off his rival for the rest of the lap, Coates managed to out drag him over the line to steal the win by 0.062s.
Cooper was third with Bull fourth as Josh Corner rounded out the top five.
