Quattro Group British Supersport Championship: Last lap moves seals Talbot’s first win

25 August 2025

Joe Talbot celebrated his first Supersport win after a last lap move on Ben Currie at Cadwell Park.

In a restarted race shortened to 12 laps, Talbot had looked quick throughout, but came into his own in the final lap.

Luke Stapleford had shot off the line from second on the grid and into the lead at the start, taking immediate charge as he led Currie through the opening lap.

But a mistake on Lap Four dropped him all the way back to 10th position as Currie hit the front and initially looked to be pulling away from the pack. However, Harry Truelove was also on a charge and took the lead on Lap Six, with Talbot also passing Currie on the same lap to move into second.

Currie was back ahead of Talbot on Lap Eight and then passed Truelove for the lead a lap later, closely followed by Talbot, who by now was looking menacingly quick.

Tucking right behind Currie, he chose Park as the place to pounce and scythed past, followed seconds later by Kennedy, who had also picked up the pace – but didn’t have enough to catch Talbot, finishing 0.085secs behind in second place.

Currie was forced to settle for third, with Truelove fourth as Rhys Irwin was fifth.

Ben Tolliday doubled up to take the Cup class win, with Lewis Jones second.
