Bridewell takes first victory of 2025 as Ryde steals second from Andrew Irwin

25 August 2025

Tommy Bridewell scored his first victory of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season in race two at Cadwell Park as Honda Racing UK returned to winning ways at their home circuit. Meanwhile Kyle Ryde snatched second on the final lap at the Hairpin from Andrew Irwin, more than halving Bradley Ray’s points’ advantage to 12 ahead of race three after Bradley Ray crashed out on lap two from the lead.

Bradley Ray had taken the lead at the start of the race, but the Raceways Yamaha rider was pushing hard to try to make a break in the Sprint Race; however, the championship leader crashed out at Mansfield.

Bridewell then had the lead with his Honda Racing UK teammate Andrew Irwin and Ryde in close contention. It was intense between the leading trio, but Bridewell was determined and had the edge until the chequered flag. However, it wasn’t until the final lap when the Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha rider could make his move with a decisive move at the Hairpin to take second.

The battle for fourth was raging too; Leon Haslam was able to fight his way to the front of the pack and the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing rider held off the charge from Max Cook, Storm Stacey, Christian Iddon and Charlie Nesbitt, with Danny Kent also giving chase.

Rory Skinner completed the top ten as he edged out Josh Brookes and John McPhee, but the race was ended prematurely over the opening laps for Davey Todd, Jaimie van Sikkelerus, Gabriele Giannini and Richard Kerr, who crashed out briefly bringing out the BMW Safety Car.
