Luke Stapleford took charge in this afternoon’s Sprint race as he celebrated a lights-to-flag victory at Cadwell Park.
The Macadam Triumph Racing rider made it look almost easy as hit the front when the lights changed and headed off into the sunset, never to be really challenged again.
Poleman Rhys Irwin dropped back to second behind Stapleford at the start and stayed there throughout, never letting Stapleford get too far away but also never in a position to mount a challenge, eventually crossing the line 0.838s behind.
Moto Rapido Ducati’s Ben Currie got a good start and ran in third position for the first seven laps, until defending champion Jack Kennedy squeezed past after several laps of trying.
However, he suffered some kind of issue moments later and ran off track, rejoining back in p10, his race effectively over.
But during his fightback, he did manage to clock the fastest lap of the race, handing him pole for tomorrow’s Feature Race.
Kennedy out of the picture, a charging Joe Talbot now had his eye on Currie and found a way past with two laps to go. Currie didn’t seem to fight back, settling for fourth at the flag, as Harry Truelove crossed the line fifth.
Ben Tolliday took the spoils in the Cup class, ahead of Joe Farragher.
