OMG Racing UK has announced the signing of Pirelli National Superstock title contender Joe Talbot, who joins the official Yamaha Motor UK outfit in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for 2025 and 2026.
The OMG Racing UK team will welcome a fresh face in 2025, as 20-year-old Joe Talbot joins the team on a two-year deal.
The rider from Warrington first burst onto the National scene in 2020, following successful seasons in the Superteen series. Finishing seventh in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 series, Talbot also secured championship wins in the Pirelli Super Series 600 and the ACU Endurance 600 class.
From there, he backed up his strong debut season by finishing second in 2021, securing two race victories and a further seven podiums, all while defending his Pirelli Super Series 600 title before making the step up to the Pirelli National Superstock series in 2022.
After a learning year on the 1000cc machine, the Cheshire rider threw himself into the title battle in 2023, finishing fourth and claiming victories and podium finishes along the way. Meanwhile Talbot heads into today’s action at Oulton Park just three points adrift of the series leader.
Talbot will get his first taste of the Yamaha R1 machine at a private test in December before official testing kicks off in 2025.
Talbot said: “I’m over the moon to be joining the OMG Racing team and be a part of the Yamaha Motor UK family. I feel honoured and can’t wait to take on the challenge of racing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. It has been a dream of mine since the start, there are a lot of great people behind me that has made this possible, and I wish to thank Alan and Paul for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get going and make my mark in the championship.”
Alan Gardner commented: “We are really excited to announce the arrival of Joe Talbot to the OMG Racing UK family in 2025. Joe has caught the eye of many in the BSB paddock with his rapid progression through Superstock 600 into 1000, and then the performances and rides he has delivered so far.
“We know he’ll be a good fit within our team for the next two years, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses with the Yamaha R1 in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.”
Paul Curran concluded: “The OMG Racing UK team are happy to announce the signing of Joe Talbot, who joins the team on a two-year deal. Joe has had a really strong season so far; he’s a title contender this year in the National Superstock Championship and impressed last year in the class too.
“We’re excited to have secured such a strong talent and know he will impress on the Yamaha R1 over the next few seasons.”
