Kyle Ryde heads into the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown at Oulton Park this weekend ready to try to close the 19-point deficit to Tommy Bridewell at the top of the standings as he aims for his first title.
Ryde closed six points closer to Bridewell last time out at Cadwell Park and the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider leads the charge of riders bidding to wrestle a consecutive title from the reigning champion as the battle intensifies for the final three rounds.
Ryde said: “I’m excited to ride my bike again this weekend and get stuck into the Showdown rounds. Oulton Park was a mixed round for us earlier in the year; we had a few top-five finishes and then an unfortunate technical problem which robbed us of another probable top-five finish, but that’s racing.
“My team has come a long way since then with improving my bike, which should put us in a strong position for this weekend. With the podiums and victories across the last three rounds, we have good momentum behind us, and now the points are increased, it matters now more than ever to make sure we keep that going.
“I am looking forward to Oulton Park and putting a fight up to Tommy and hopefully claw a few points back and then the Showdown should be very interesting for Donington Park and Brands Hatch.”
