Danny Buchan admits the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill has boosted him as he aims high for his home races at Snetterton next weekend (July 5/6/7).
DAO Racing Kawasaki’s Buchan scored his best result of the season so far on his return to Team Green with a seventh place in race three and is now hoping that the positive results in Scotland will mark a turning point in the season.
Buchan said: “Knockhill was good for us and it was quite clear that we made a step, our intentions as a team were to go there and to fight at the front but given the way the championship is at the minute, everyone is so close and on it. For me, it was getting the bike to a place where we can work and it was there, and there was some things that I didn’t execute like starting sixth in the last race and not getting a good start so I couldn’t go with the leaders at the start of the race.
“It was a bit of a confidence-building weekend really, but to end up with seventh place was really good as it has been a tough start to the year for the team and I think that Knockhill is a big turning point for us now going forward. We have a competitive bike we just need to execute the race weekends and that is the plan for Snetterton.
“I want to go there, we have a good base with the bike now, so we just want to get our heads down and work hard and hopefully get our way to the front and our goal is to be there consistently. I feel that we are doing that now and be there fighting at the front.”
