Ash Barnes will join the Pirelli National Sportbike Championship this season with the Raceways GYTR Pro Shop team.
Barnes has been part of the bLU cRU family since 2021 and a previous race winner on the R3 in the former Junior Supersport Championship and will campaign the R7, which will be prepared and maintained by their Fleetwood-based GYTR Pro Shop.
Barnes said: “I’m really excited to get going in 2024 on my new Raceways GYTR Pro Shop Yamaha R7. I have been presented a great opportunity by Steve and the team at Raceways Motorcycles to compete in the new Pirelli National Sportbike Championship and I can’t wait to get started. The Yamaha R7 is a great package for this new championship so I think we all have a strong year ahead. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity I have been given by Steve and I’m looking forward to getting out on the bike at testing soon.”
Steve Rodgers commented: “While we are no longer running our BSB team, we said we would remain involved in racing and alongside our support for the McAMS by Mar-Train team, we will also be supporting Ash Barnes on a Raceways GYTR Pro Shop R7. Ash has ridden Raceways-prepared bikes since 2021 and the attitude and effort put in by both him and his family has always fit in well with us here at Raceways. He’s a talented young rider and I think the new Sportbike class will suit him well. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can achieve on the R7.”
