Scott Swann took charge in the second Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance session of the weekend to lead the combined practice times.
His best lap of 1min 15.688secs was enough to hold off FP1 leader Luke Mossey by 0.266secs, as Tom Oliver finished third quickest.
Shaun Winfield continued to run well, finishing in fourth at the end of the opening day, just ahead of points leader Davey Todd.
