Max Cook is ready to come out fighting at the next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Thruxton this weekend as the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki rider bids to return to the podium battle.
Cook had his strongest round of the season last year at the Hampshire circuit and ahead of his home round this weekend, he is bidding to build on his best result so far of his Bennetts BSB career, when he finished fourth at the circuit last season.
Cook said: “So far this season has been good and better than last year for sure and a year under my belt means I now know what to expect so that makes it a little easier. It started off really good in Navarra and I felt comfortable and I have a better understanding of riding the Superbike now and having some testing has helped for sure, but I have had a bit of a mid-season dip since Knockhill.
“Things just didn’t go right and we have had a few changes within the team so we have had a bit of a change. I have been riding the bike in a different way and so the set-up from last year hasn’t been working as it did last year. Thruxton though I am very excited about as we did good here last year, so I know the bike works good and it is such a unique track and anything can happen.
“I am not expecting it to be easy, I think a lot of people have upped their game so I am going to have some fun and see what we can do. It’s my favourite track to ride so I hope we can have a good weekend. I can’t expect anything but I will be disappointed if we are not fighting for the podium.”
