Christian Iddon maintained his third place in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings following a damage limitation weekend at Thruxton, and now the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider is eager to get to Cadwell Park this weekend ready to return to the podium fight.
Iddon arrives in Lincolnshire 35-points adrift of Tommy Bridewell at the top of the standings but knows that traditionally it is a circuit that has been a happy hunting ground for Ducati, unlike the previous round at Thruxton.
Iddon had two top ten finishes last time out, including a best result of sixth place as he managed to bag some strong points as the Showdown gets closer and is looking ahead to a strong weekend at Cadwell Park.
Iddon said: “Thruxton was difficult; we thought it might be before the weekend but I had hoped that it wouldn’t! We actually got reasonably fortunate with the two results in race one and two; I felt really good in the first race actually, I felt the bike underneath me and it was good, but come Sunday I think the temperature really hurt us. Thankfully because the first race was so short because of everything that went on it sort of saved our bacon a bit, but the final race showed the reality of the situation.
“It was a difficult weekend, but strangely we didn’t lose massively to the front of the championship. Although I lost a place, I also gained a place so I retained my position of third in the championship, we just allowed Ryan to close in heavily.
“Going to Cadwell Park and it’s all to play for, going back to a more normal track, if you can call Cadwell a more normal track! We should have the full crew back, which is also a big thing for us. It didn’t go horrendously wrong at Thruxton, but certainly from a feeling and a confidence point of view, I want to get back to a track where I can feel the bike underneath me again and ride the Ducati the way it needs to be ridden, which is incredibly difficult to do at Thruxton! I am looking forward to it – you always get a mega BSB crowd there, Bank Holiday weekend so it should be good.”
