C&L Fairburn Properties/Look Forward Racing Honda celebrated their first podium finish in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship last time out at Thruxton when Billy McConnell took a hard-fought third place and now the team are looking forward to their home round.
McConnell claimed two top five finishes before excelling in race three to award the team their first podium finish since joining the Superbike class this season and his first since 2015.
McConnell said: “I’m absolutely over the moon, it’s been coming for a while, and everything just felt great at the weekend. I can’t thank the team enough for working so hard on the bike and to give me a Honda that was spot on. I felt so comfortable and knew we could do well.
“The race on Saturday was epic and it was mega to be a part of such a shame I got pushed out in the last corner, but it was such a fun race! The results at the weekend were just brilliant and so pleased we got there and were in the mix every day.
“I was determined to get on the box! Somehow, I managed to conserve my tyres, something I’ve never been very good at in the past! I really wanted to fight as hard as I could and can’t thank everyone enough involved in making it happen. A huge thanks to Chris Fairburn and the whole Fairburn family, I’m so grateful. Roll on Cadwell!”
Team Owner Chris Fairburn commented: “Billy rode great all weekend and the team have all worked so well together to get to this point. Everyone in the team deserved the results and we’re very pleased with Billy for all his efforts last weekend. We can’t wait for the rest of the season now.”
