Quattro Group British Supersport & GP2 Championships: Currie leads Perie to top free practice

20 April 2024

Reigning Quattro Group British Supersport champ Ben Currie proved he’s still the man to beat after storming to the fastest free practice lap at Circuito de Navarra.

The Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider powered to the top of the timesheets with a hot lap of 1min 39.400secs to end the session on top ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Brad Perie, back in the championship after a season in British Superbikes, was second quickest, 0.176secs adrift of Currie.

Wildcard entry Davey Todd, who was fastest in first practice, had to make do with third in the second, as ROKiT Haslam Racing Ducati’s Eugene McManus was fourth. Multiple champion Jack Kennedy was fifth on the Honda Racing UK machine.

Jack Nixon continued to lead the way in the GP2 class, banking the 19th best time overall as his Kramer team-mate Owen Jenner and Nykos Racing’s Owen Mellor ended the session second and third respectively.
