Seeley spells title trouble for Supersport rivals

12 April 2024

Previous double Champion Alastair Seeley will make a much-anticipated return to the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, reigniting some arch rivalries of the past, after signing a new deal with Binch Racing backed by 3b Construction.

The ‘Wee Wizard’ has complete a late deal with David Binch’s team following an injury for team rider Zak Corderoy. Seeley meanwhile will be gunning for another title to add to his previous crowns in both the Supersport and Pirelli National Superstock Championship classes.

Seeley said: “I'm very excited to be joining Binch Racing backed by 3b Construction for another year in the BSB paddock. I hope to get back banging bars with my old foes and climbing onto the rostrum. I wish Zak a speedy recovery from his injury and I'm really looking forward to nurturing young Oliver as we go. We are going to have a lot of fun. I haven't ridden a bike since Brands Hatch last October so I’ll be rusty for a day or two as we test in Navarra but then hope to make strides during race weekend.”

Team Owner David Binch concluded: “It is with great expectation and a tinge of sadness that I have signed Alastair for our upcoming 2024 Supersport campaign. Sadness that Zak’s injury has precluded him from challenging in 2024 but great expectation that Alastair is a proven winner on a Yamaha and we sure do like to fight for those wins.

“Having spent time with Alastair it’s obvious he’s not afraid of getting stuck in and the desire to win is as strong as ever. To be at the front, our Yamaha R6 will need to be ridden hard against the other competitors in the Supersport class. Without doubt, ‘The Wee Wizard’ has proved he can ride hard!

“Oliver Barr’s progress has been amazing during winter testing and having Alastair’s presence and experience is a great benefit. The Navarra test has come at the perfect time for us to get some quality testing under our belt with new parts and team familiarisation before the Supersport season opener. We have to be realistic that there are bound to be a few teething problems, but to say we are excited to get going is an understatement. Thank you to everyone who has made this happen."
