Nikki Coates took the second Heat race win at Donington Park as he beat polesitter Kieran Smith by almost five seconds.
Coates was fastest off the line, passing Smith as James O’Mara’s hopes of capitalising on a front row start were dashed in a lap one crash.
As Coates managed the race from the front, building up a steady gap to Smith, behind, it was all about Michael Rutter who scythed through from 23rd on the grid to take third at the flag.
Fourth was Mason Johnson as Glynn Davies rounded out the top five.
