Bridewell ready to try to regain the lead as title fight reaches Donington Park

28 September 2023

Tommy Bridewell is ready to come out fighting to regain the advantage in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship title battle at Donington Park this weekend, as he bids to overhaul his BeerMonster Ducati teammate Glenn Irwin who leads by half a point.

Bridewell had been holding the advantage, but arrives at Donington Park for the second time this season with just a half point deficit to Irwin and determined to return to winning ways in his bid for a debut title as the pair both aim to deliver PBM a ninth championship crown.

Bridewell said: “Going into Donington Park it is the same as always; I am looking forward to it and I think for me, I feel that I am riding the crest of a wave and it’s important for me to continue that momentum.

“I have never ever been able to win so many races as I have this year and I feel such a different person mentally in my riding. Physically I have always been strong, but mentally every single race I approach I know I am able to one hundred percent win it, so I believe as the season goes on and the rounds go on, I get stronger and stronger.

“At Donington Park earlier in the year we were very strong and the bike was really good and we found some things there that made a big difference for me and we have been applying that throughout the year. It sometimes works, sometimes it doesn’t, but going back to Donington Park where I know it does work, I am looking forward to that.

“It has been a good circuit for me in the past, it has been a good circuit for me this year already and the goal is always the same, I have the self-belief and confidence to go out and win all three races. I know that Kyle will be strong there as he rode phenomenal at the start of the year, I know Leon is capable of being strong and Glenn and Ryan too, so in all honesty I am looking forward to racing with them and I believe we can have a great weekend.”
