The Quattro Group British Supersport Championship will feature a new team on the grid next season as Josh Davis Motorsport make their debut with two young and up-and-coming contenders, Morgan McLaren-Wood and Carter Brown, lining up on the Yamaha R6.
The JDM Motorsport Team join the grid, with Team Owner Josh Davies stepping up to run his own team after previous sponsorship within the series, looking to develop young riders within the Supersport class.
18-year-old McLaren-Wood was first noticed competing in New Zealand by Simon Crafer, and has previously competed in the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship this season. 16-year-old Brown who is no stranger to the British Championship paddock having twice finished runner-up in the R&G British Talent Cup joins him. He returns to the UK after competing most recently in the European Superstock 600 Championship.
The Team will also feature former British Supersport rider Dan Cooper who joins as Team Manager, with his company DCM.
McLaren-Wood said: “I’m looking forward to the forthcoming season. I’m really pleased to have such a talented teammate in Carter which will help push me along. Also, a great team-owner in Josh who has the confidence in me and helped me massively getting me over from New Zealand.”
Brown said: “After just my first year of competition on a Junior Superstock bike, I have been lucky enough to have been offered a position with Josh and Maureen at the new JD Motorsport team for my British Supersport debut in 2024. This is an amazing opportunity for me and I can’t wait for myself and my new teammate Morgan, to start mixing it up in a really competitive class! I will be giving 2024 my best shot.”
Team Owner Josh Davis commented: “After being involved within the very professional BSB series for several years I’ve always wanted to own my own team. Now we’ve been fortunate to make that dream a reality, with a huge help from Maureen Morgan-Wood. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get everything sorted and established before the season starts next year. We have two young riders, and it will be great to watch them develop next year and move forward through the rankings as the season progresses.”
Team Manager Dan Cooper added: “After being heavily involved as a racer in the British Supersport series, it’s great to be part of this new and exciting team. We have all knuckled down at DCM to get the bikes ready and prepped and we are more than eager to get going. Hopefully Morgan and Carter will get plenty of testing in before the season starts, and we can have a good successful year.”
