Tommy Bridewell heads into this weekend’s third round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park feeling confident that he can continue the strong form that took him to victory last time out at Oulton Park.
The BeerMonster Ducati rider holds joint second place in the standings with FHO Racing BMW Motorrad’s Josh Brookes, but knows that in the past the circuit has proved to serve up a mix of results. Just four points separate him from his teammate Glenn Irwin at the top of the standings and he arrives at the Leicestershire circuit this weekend with high hopes of battling for the podium.
Bridewell said: “Obviously I am looking forward to getting back to a race and get going again as it feels like it has been a long time since the last race at Oulton Park. For me, I have had some really mixed results at Donington Park, sometimes I have gone there and won in dominant fashion and other times I have been hanging on to the leading group by the skin of my teeth and then other times I have not had the pace at all.
“So over the years, I have had some really good results there but some of my worst too, so I am looking forward to Donington Park because in all honesty I feel like I have a really good, stable structure around me now and we have had a really strong opening two rounds.
“I still look back to Silverstone and I didn’t expect to be anywhere near as strong as I was there at that track, so it goes to show we have a really good package no matter the circuit or conditions. Donington Park for me is going to be a good chance to see on another different circuit, how we fare to our competitors.”
