Bennetts BSB is back on track and Buchan leads the pack

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship riders returned to the track as conditions improved at Donington Park this afternoon (Sunday), with Danny Buchan posting the benchmark time of the session for SYNETIQ BMW.

After showers and cooler conditions hampered the early running, there was an improvement for the afternoon and Buchan was one of the riders who utilised the track time to get his first Superbike running of the 2023 season.

LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde also headed out onto the circuit for the first time at Donington Park; the local contender had been the pace-setter at Circuito de Navarra earlier in the month, and he posted the second fastest lap of the session.

Josh Brookes had been the first rider to venture out in the session as FHO Racing BMW’s new recruit gained valuable mileage on the BMW M 1000 RR ahead of the opening round at Easter. The double Champion was third fastest on the times at the end of the session.

Andrew Irwin and Honda Racing UK also took the opportunity to get back out on track, posting the fourth fastest time, just ahead of MasterMac by Hawk Racing Honda’s Charlie Nesbitt.

Ryan Vickers returned to action following his crash at Circuito de Navarra; the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha rider ending the session just ahead of Peter Hickman and Christian Iddon, who completed the top eight.

Crendon by Hawk Racing Honda’s Josh Owens and Jason O'Halloran, who had his first run on the McAMS Yamaha in 2023, completed the top ten.
