Four rounds down and Bridewell leads the hunt to Snetterton

03 July 2023

Tommy Bridewell leads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship title chase to Snetterton in under two weeks’ time (July 7/8/9) with eight points separating him from Kyle Ryde who moved into second with a strong performance at Knockhill.

Five different riders have scored race wins from the opening four rounds and they lock out the leading positions in the standings, with Leon Haslam the only rider holding a place inside the top six who is yet to celebrate victory.

Bridewell extended his advantage with a pair of second place finishes at Knockhill with Ryde now splitting the BeerMonster Ducati teammates as a crash in race two dropped Glenn Irwin into third, but still only 11 points shy of the top of the standings.

Josh Brookes and FHO Racing BMW Motorrad will want to bounce back from a tough weekend at Knockhill and the Norfolk circuit has been a happy hunting ground in the past for the double Champion.

Haslam still holds join fourth in the standings after four podium finishes and he has the edge over Jason O'Halloran who returned to winning ways for McAMS Yamaha at Donington Park.

Lee Jackson has been consistent but is still looking for the first podium finish of the season for Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki, but he has Ryan Vickers closing in who has doubled up on podiums after celebrating his first in the series at Donington Park.

Christian Iddon and reigning Quattro Group British Supersport Champion Jack Kennedy complete the top ten, but there are several riders including Peter Hickman, Tom Neave, Storm Stacey, Danny Kent and Charlie Nesbitt to name a few, ready to snatch away their top ten placings.
