Glenn Irwin leads the way into eBay Qualifying at Knockhill

17 June 2023

Glenn Irwin topped the times in the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free Practice session at Knockhill this morning, setting the fastest lap of the weekend so far on the BeerMonster Ducati in the slightly cooler conditions ahead of eBay Qualifying.

Irwin upped the pace in the final minute of the session, moving 0.048s ahead of Charlie Nesbitt who had set the leading time just seconds earlier before his Ducati rival eased him back a position.

Leon Haslam had been at the top of the times with five minutes of the session remaining, but despite last minute improvements, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team rider was still able to hold third place at the chequered flag, 0.138s adrift of Irwin.

Jason O'Halloran moved into fourth place for McAMS Yamaha, elevating himself above the leading LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha of Ryan Vickers and SYNETIQ BMW’s Danny Buchan, who had both been running inside the top three earlier in the session.

Lee Jackson was seventh fastest for Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki with Danny Kent the fastest of the Honda riders in eighth place for the Lovell Kent Racing Honda team. Storm Stacey and yesterday’s pace-setter Kyle Ryde completed the top ten.
