Jason O'Halloran and McAMS Yamaha picked up where they ended the Knockhill event last season by topping the timesheets in the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship Free Practice session of the weekend as the series returned to Scotland.
O’Halloran set the benchmark early in the session and the time remained fastest at the end of the opening track action, with 0.215s separating the McAMS Yamaha rider from Kyle Ryde in second on the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha.
Ryde was one of the few riders to set his fastest lap of the session in the closing stages; he displaced Danny Buchan from second wit Ryan Vickers ensuring both LAMI OMG Racing Yamahas were inside the top five.
Storm Stacey had a strong start to the weekend in fifth place for the Starline Racing Kawasaki team, edging out Lee Jackson on the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki. Leon Haslam was seventh fastest on the ROKiT BMW Motorrad with Glenn Irwin completing the top eight on the leading BeerMonster Ducati.
Tom Neave was ninth fastest for Honda Racing UK with Tommy Bridewell completing the top ten, who were covered by 0.668s. Luke Mossey and Jack Kennedy were just outside the top ten, setting the same lap time.
