Kyle Ryde continues to build momentum in his Bennetts British Superbike Championship title campaign as the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha rider bids to close the slender eight-point deficit to Tommy Bridewell at the top of the standings.
Ryde has proven his consistency so far this season, claiming four wins and a further two podium finishes, including victory at Knockhill last time out which has always been one of the more challenging circuit for the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha contender.
Ryde said: “Winning at Knockhill was a big surprise as I was cacking my pants before going there as I wanted to just keep everything on track and I did what I needed to do on the Saturday and that ticked every box for the weekend and everything else was then a bonus.
“We ended up winning the first race on Sunday and it is funny how racing works because I would have snapped your hand off for a fourth place at Knockhill before I went, but then to finish there in the last race I wasn’t happy! That is just how it goes!”
“We have had a great four rounds coming up to Snetterton and Brad obviously won three races there last year. I think it is going to be definitely good for our bike, but I still think it will be difficult because everyone is a bit faster and got the packages working a lot better this year, so it will be tough but there are no excuses. We can still do a good job and I was on the podium there last year when I wasn’t feeling too good and we still scraped a third so we should be podium hunting for sure! That is the plan.
“Moving up to second in the standings is down to consistency and when I go out and people ask me how far I am off first place in the standings, I don’t know as we have to keep this ball rolling and there is a lot of racing still to do before we get close to that. Snetterton is a good track, then we have Brands Hatch coming afterwards on my birthday and that is a good track for us, then Thruxton so I am feeling good.”
