Ryde ready to regroup and regain ground at Brands Hatch

20 July 2023

Kyle Ryde heads into the Brands Hatch round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend determined to regain the ground lost last time out at Snetterton as the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha rider bids to replicate the manufacturer’s success last summer.

Yamaha were victorious in all three races at the corresponding round last summer and now Ryde is looking to return to the podium finishing form that has seen him hold a top three position in the championship standings, with four race wins and two further podiums ahead of this weekend.

Ryde said: “At Brands Hatch I am looking to get back on track with where I left off at Knockhill as Snetterton became a bit of a write off. I had a bad Friday and then it spiralled from there and I just couldn’t get going. There were a couple of things that happened with the bike on Friday and it didn’t give me a good feeling and then we were playing catch up from then on. Maybe I should have been a bit braver on Saturday, but I didn’t want to push the boat out and do a stupid crash when it wasn’t feeling right so that was that.

“I got up to speed on Sunday afternoon when I finished eighth in the last race and had the same lap times as the leaders but obviously it was time to go home, so it was too little too late, but I got as many points as I could and tried my best which is all we can ask for. Brands Hatch should be good, I had three top finishes last time there, so it was a good weekend, and it should be better even than last year so I am looking forward to it. We want a solid weekend and hopefully a couple more podiums.”
