Irwin ready to continue title quest at Brands Hatch

20 July 2023

Glenn Irwin heads into the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship holding second in the standings, trailing his BeerMonster Ducati teammate Tommy Bridewell by 25 points, as he returns to Brands Hatch where he completed a double win last October.

Irwin has shared four wins apiece with his teammate and the pair were inseparable until the finish at Snetterton; but this time around he is biding to overhaul his rival as he aims to reduce the deficit.

Irwin said: “I am looking forward to getting out on the BeerMonster Ducati at Brands Hatch. It is one of the most iconic tracks in the UK and I think I like all the tracks as much as each other, but I am fortunate enough that I have had success at a lot of them, but Brands Hatch is one where I look forward to going racing.

“It has been a great, should we say nearly halfway point of the championship, to be within 25 points of the title sets us up for the remaining six rounds. That being said, it is way too early in the season for that, so we go to Brands Hatch and focus on ourselves and continue to work hard.

“I learnt a lot at Snetterton, a lot of where I am really strong and also where I need to improve, so I have been doing a lot of self-practice between Snetterton and Brands Hatch. A lot of visualisation to adapt my style in ways that I will going forward. So there has been a lot of work behind the scenes with that.

“The team have been absolutely faultless all year and it has been great being back at PBM, so we are going to Brands Hatch looking to continue that great feeling and continue the quest for the 2023 title.”
