Nikki Coates was victorious in the second ABK Beer 0% BMW F 900 R Cup Heat Race at Donington Park after duelling with Michael Rutter for the victory at the Leicestershire circuit.
Rutter had grabbed the initial advantage and held the lead until Coates made his comeback, moving into second after the opening lap and then grabbed the position at the front of the field with three laps to go.
Rutter was keeping the pressure on until the chequered flag but Coates had the edge with Christian Smith completing the podium.
Mason Johnson and Kieran Smith rounded out the top five positions ahead of tomorrow’s races.
