OMG Racing will join the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship this season, signing rookie Aaron Daykin lining up on the team’s Yamaha R6.

20-year-old, Daykin from Nottingham is gearing up for his first season in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship paddock, joining the series after finishing seventh overall in the No Limits Newcomer 600 class, scoring eight podiums.

Daykin said: “I feel incredibly excited and humble to sign with OMG Racing for 2023, considering I’m at such an early stage in my career. The team have made me feel right at home, and I feel I’ve settled in really well. I had a great test with the team in Cartagena before Christmas, and I’m really looking forward to getting out to Navarra for the start of the official 2023 testing season.

“I’d like to thank Alan, Paul and all of OMG Racing for the fantastic opportunity, and I can’t wait to get stuck in, as I kick start my career in the BSB paddock.”

OMG Racing Team Owner Alan Gardner said: “It was immediately obvious when I came across Aaron last year that he was fast, and when I found out he’d been riding just a few months before entering a championship he scored numerous podiums in, I was impressed. Natural talent is important at this level, and whilst this will be a steep learning curve for him, I have no doubt that he’ll take it in his stride, and we’ll see some fantastic riding during the season.”

OMG Racing Team Principal Paul Curran concluded: “Aaron impressed not only me but the whole team when he joined us in Cartagena in December 2022. He listened to advice from both Kyle [Ryde] and Ryan [Vickers], and throughout the week, he would spend considerable time getting his head around the bike, as well as working closely with the mechanics and engineers. He shows all the signs of becoming a successful racer, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on this year.”
