BMW Motorrad UK create F 900 R Cup prize fund worth more than £75,000

23 February 2023

BMW Motorrad UK has created a total prize fund worth more than £75,000 for the inaugural 2023 F 900 R Cup series.

Cash prizes will total £56,000 for the full nine-round championship – allocated at each round for the heat races, the R&G Last Chance Qualifier and the main final. In addition, the winner of the overall F 900 Cup Championship will receive a new BMW S 1000 RR; a production bike that could be used to progress into the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

As well as position-based cash prizes, each round will see series supplier K-Tech select the ‘K-Tech Rider of the Meeting’, awarding £200 for the most notable performance of the weekend.

Following the conclusion of the 2023 F 900 R Cup Championship, BMW Motorrad UK will award the ‘Lee Nicholls Most Improved Rider’ award to the rider who has shown most progress throughout the season. The recipient will win a set of made-to-measure BMW M Pro Race leathers, M Pro Race helmet, gloves, and boots from BMW Motorrad UK, totalling over £2,000 in value.

Head of Marketing and PR for BMW Motorrad UK, Scott Grimsdall, said: “This is a significant prize fund for what promises to be an extremely competitive championship. We hope that this, along with what is already a cost-effective National level class, will provide racers of all backgrounds a clear path to the Superstock and Superbike classes. The 2023 Champion will be in a brilliant position to move to the Superstock class with the championship prize of an S 1000 RR, where we hope to see them continue their progression.”

Riders will compete across two grids in a US Supercross-style format, where the top 16 in the opening two Heat races of each round will directly qualify for the Main Event final, while riders finishing from position 17 onwards in each race will head into a ‘Last Chance Qualifier’ race. The top four finishers from the LCQ race will then make the main, point scoring final.

Entries for the series remain open for riders, with a limited number of the 72 available grid places still up for grabs. Riders who wish to participate must hold a minimum ACU Clubman-grade licence, and should contact Claire Fennell at MSVR on (+44) 01332 819522 or email [email protected] to register their entry.

Producing 105hp as standard, the dynamic BMW F 900 R roadster is available to purchase from any BMW Motorrad UK retailer, and each will be offered with a standardised package of race-focused enhancements, including K-Tech fork internals, K-Tech rear shock, full Arrow exhaust, rearsets, quickshifter, and race bodywork.
