Jackson “I am ready to push on now” ahead of 2023 Silverstone opener

06 April 2023

Lee Jackson had his strongest Bennetts British Superbike Championship campaign to date in 2022 as he claimed his first race win in the class with the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki team before ending the season in fourth place.

The Lincolnshire contender now heads into the new season with the same team and knows that continuity will be key to getting the early jump on his rivals when the Championship kicks off at Silverstone this weekend (April 7/8/9).

Jackson said: “Coming into 2023 I am looking forward to getting back racing. We finished last year by crashing out and breaking a few bones and not managing to finish all three races and that was gutting for me, as a pride myself on consistency so I am looking forward to getting round one under my belt.

“My main aim is to grab as many points as possible to get myself kick started in the championship. The new format is going to make it exciting and points are crucial. I am ready to push on now; the Kawasaki as a package has got a lot stronger this year so I am really excited about that. We still have some new parts that we haven’t got to try in testing yet so maybe we can throw ourselves in at the deep end at round one and test some of those and hopefully they work for the better and put us in good shape.

“After Silverstone we then go to Oulton Park for round two where I know, myself and the bike work well too, so we need to go to Silverstone, get as many points on the board as possible to start the season and then be consistently fighting for those podiums.”
