Skinner snatches it from Ray in penultimate Snetterton session

27 March 2022

Rory Skinner topped the timesheets in the penultimate session of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship R&G Official Test at Snetterton, setting his personal best time, taking the top spot on his final lap to displace Bradley Ray from the leading position.

Jason O’Halloran’s pace-setting time from yesterday remains the fastest overall of the test so far, but in the fifth session, FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Skinner moved to the top of the times by 0.233s as more riders headed onto circuit as conditions improved from the morning.

O’Halloran had been at the top of the timing screen as the final three minutes of the session ticked down, but the last run improvements from Skinner and Ray eased him back into third.

Danny Buchan posted the fourth fastest time of the session on the leading SYNETIQ BMW as Lee Jackson completed the top five in a positive morning for the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team.

Christian Iddon, who had been the fastest of the riders on track in the cooler morning conditions, was sixth fastest for Buildbase Suzuki ahead of reigning champion Tarran Mackenzie and the MCE Ducati pairing of Tom Sykes and Josh Brookes.

Peter Hickman completed the top ten for the FHO Racing BMW team, with one final session remaining of the three-day test later this afternoon.
