Ray smashes Knockhill lap record to set pole position by 0.005s

18 June 2022

Bradley Ray will start from pole position for this afternoon’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship eBay Sprint race at Knockhill as he topped qualifying for the first time this season, holding off Jason O'Halloran by just 0.005s.

A frantic SUPERPICKS Q2 session began with Ray instantly launching out of the eBay pit lane for a time attack, and he didn’t disappoint as he went to the top of the times for the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team.

Lee Jackson had been holding second place for the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki team, but O’Halloran was on the attack, missing out by the narrowest of margins at the chequered flag for McAMS Yamaha. That pushed Jackson into third as he claimed his first front row qualifying start of the season.

Danny Buchan heads the second row for SYNETIQ BMW ahead of Rory Skinner, he was another rider to crash out during the session on the second of the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasakis. Kyle Ryde completes row two, pushing Glenn Irwin back into seventh.

Christian Iddon was eighth for the Buildbase Suzuki team with Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes completing the top ten.

It was a disaster for the second McAMS Yamaha as defending champion Tarran Mackenzie crashed out at turn one during Q1.
