Ray sets the pace ahead of Mackenzie on opening day at Snetterton

Bradley Ray set the pace after the opening two Bennetts British Superbike Championship free practice sessions at Snetterton, holding a 0.990s advantage over defending champion Tarran Mackenzie.

Ray reclaimed the leading position in the final minute of the second session, with Mackenzie surging into second on his final lap to push Danny Buchan back into third place.

Kyle Ryde was just adrift in fourth place on the second Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha with Glenn Irwin completing the top five for Honda Racing UK.

Tom Sykes was the leading Ducati in sixth position, just ahead of Tommy Bridewell with Rory Skinner completing the top eight for the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki team.

Andrew Irwin and Lee Jackson completed the top ten, with Peter Hickman and Josh Brookes the final riders in the top 12, who all instantly progress into tomorrow’s Q2 session.

Jason O'Halloran had a technical issue and will have to go through tomorrow's Q1 session.
