Jack Kennedy bagged pole ahead of today’s Sprint race after a late qualifying battle with Dutchman Jamie van Sikkelerus.
The MPM Routz Racing rider knocked the championship leader down to second position with just two minutes to go, but Kennedy stole it back a minute later as they both then set off on one final hot lap.
The defending champ took the spot as the flag fell with a best lap of 1min 54.918sec as van Sikkelerus settled into second with Lee Johnston rounding out the front row.
Luke Stapleford will head row two from fourth, just ahead of Rhys Irwin.
Cameron Fraser ended the session as fastest GP2 runner, just ahead of Jack Scott – who crashed out during the session – with Harvey Claridge third.
