Jason O'Halloran set the pace in the final Bennetts British Superbike Championship free practice session at Donington Park this morning, firing the McAMS Yamaha ahead of Lee Jackson in the closing minutes before the chequered flag.
Jackson had launched to the top of the times at the start of the session, wasting no time in posting a lap in the 1m:05s barrier on his opening run to put the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki initially ahead.
Jackson then led the way from Glenn Irwin who had moved up to second for Honda Racing UK, with the McAMS Yamahas also in the mix as ten minutes remained of the session.
There was then a further improvement from Rory Skinner and Leon Haslam, which once again shook up the order before a red flag with just over four minutes on the clock when Danny Kent crashed out at Craner Curves.
Kent has concussion following the crash and was transferred to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham for further assessment. He remains unfit for the remainder of this event, which now means that Danny Buchan is promoted into the starters for SUPERPICKS Q2.
When the session resumed, O’Halloran wasted no time in picking up the pace, putting himself at the top of the times for McAMS Yamaha and at the chequered flag he held off Jackson and Glenn Irwin.
Andrew Irwin continued to improve his time on the SYNETIQ BMW, setting the fourth fastest time, just ahead of FHO Racing BMW rival Peter Hickman.
Yesterday’s record-breaking pace-setter Bradley Ray was sixth fastest, ahead of Skinner and Leon Haslam, who was declared fit to continue the event by the BSB Medical Team after spraining his ankle in a crash at Craner Curves yesterday.
Kyle Ryde and Buchan completed the top ten, with Tarran Mackenzie just missing out in eleventh place ahead of the MCE Ducati pairing of Josh Brookes and Tom Sykes.
