Jason O'Halloran smashed the fastest Bennetts British Superbike Championship lap of the Donington Park National circuit in the SUPERPICKS Qualifying session, firing the McAMS Yamaha 0.004s ahead to claim his first pole position of the season.
The pace had once again been incredibly fast with the top 12 riders in SUPERPICKS Q2 running under the existing lap record, and the Australian emerged on top after trading places with Bradley Ray.
Ray had set a blistering pace from his first flying lap, but in the final five minutes O’Halloran made his mark, edging out the championship leader by the narrowest of margins at the chequered flag.
Ray held second ahead of his Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha teammate Kyle Ryde as Yamaha completed a lock out of the front row ahead of this afternoon’s eBay Sprint race.
Rory Skinner will head the second row for the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki team ahead of teammate Lee Jackson, with Peter Hickman completing the top six.
Tom Sykes had his best qualifying performance of the year for the MCE Ducati team in seventh place ahead of returning champion Tarran Mackenzie on the second of the McAMS Yamahas. Glenn Irwin and Ryan Vickers completed the top ten.
