Jackson ready to hunt title rivals at Donington Park

Lee Jackson’s return to winning ways at Oulton Park has hurled him into contention for his first Bennetts British Superbike Championship title and the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki rider is ready to try to maintain the momentum.

Jackson starts the penultimate round holding third place in the standings and 48-points adrift of Bradley Ray at the top, but knows that another strong weekend at Donington Park will close the deficit ahead of the season finale at Brands Hatch.

Jackson said: “Oulton Park starting with a crash in FP2 wasn’t a great start to the weekend, so I knew I had quite a bit of work to do overnight on Friday. We got a sixth place in the first race on Saturday, I felt pretty good about that.

“Then getting myself out the front again on Sunday with all the hiccups, to be leading some laps and getting my second victory was fantastic. To top it off with a third place in race two was good, although I was a little bit disappointed with myself not to win that one as well. Overall, my confidence is back and we’re ready to fight.

“Going to Donington, it’s somewhere I enjoy racing. Last year, I got third there in a wet race and a fifth on the Sunday morning and a bit of a struggle in the damp. I want to try and keep that similar form, if I can keep fighting at the front, that’s where I want to be now.

“I’m in the fight for the title so we need to keep pressuring Brad and do the most we can, so we can go to Brands Hatch with the least amount of points off the championship lead as possible.”
