Honda British Talent Cup rider Charlie Huntingford has announced a new sponsorship agreement with the WMS Group (UK) Ltd (WMS) in partnership with motorcycle dealer, Mototechniks.
The sponsorship from WMS-Mototechniks comes during Huntingford’s debut season in the Honda British Talent Cup, which gets underway at Silverstone on Easter weekend.
Last season, Huntingford competed onboard his Metrakit GP70 in the FAB Racing Championship, achieving a number of lap records including at The Lord Of Lydden Hill round in October. In 2020, he raced his Mini Moto Elite, again in the FAB Racing Championship, finishing in second place in the championship by just a single point and 0.4 seconds.
WMS Group is a leading supplier of warranty to a network of UK dealers, including MotoTechniks. The business has further bolstered its support for motorcycle dealers in the past year, with the appointment of a specialist motorcycle account manager, Kerry Whitaker, as well as preparing to launch a new warranty representing the UK’s highest level of motorcycle cover.
Meanwhile, Mototechniks is Suffolk’s leading motorcycle sales and service centre, and is a main dealer for Yamaha, Piaggio, Aprilia, Moto-Guzzi and Vespa.
Huntingford said: “I’m really grateful to be sponsored by both WMS and Mototechniks for my debut season in the Honda Racing British Talent Cup. I’m excited for what this season has in store and being amongst the youngest to compete in this race season, I’m really hoping to demonstrate what I’m capable of, and show improvements in every race.”
Simon Huntingford, owner of Mototechniks and Charlie’s father, commented: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with WMS Group in the sponsorship of Charlie this season. WMS has been our warranty partner for almost two years now, so it’s great that we can take our relationship to the next level and support Charlie as he really kickstarts his career in motorcycling. As a dad, it makes me really proud to see Charlie succeeding in something we both love, but seeing him also representing our two brands as he races round the track makes it extra special. We’re so grateful to WMS for coming on this ride with us.”
Craig Grant, Managing Director at Opteven UK, concluded: “Charlie’s motorcycling career to date has been exceptional, and he’s proven that he really is a talented young rider. We’re really looking forward to working with Mototechniks, both on the sponsorship of Charlie and continuing to support them with their warranty and aftersales offerings to customers. Everyone at WMS wishes Charlie the absolute best for the season ahead, and we can’t wait to watch him race.”
