Haslam set for Suzuka Eight Hour return with KRT

30 May 2022

VisionTrack Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam will join multiple World Champion Jonathan Rea and fellow Bennetts BSB champion Alex Lowes from the WorldSBK KRT squad, at the Suzuka Eight Hour race this year in the official KRT team.

The 43rd edition of the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hour race takes place on 5-7 August, with the Kawasaki line-up featuring Rea and Haslam, who shared the victory in the most recent Suzuka 8 Hours in 2019. Rea has two previous Suzuka 8 Hours wins, while Lowes and Haslam have three apiece. Kawasaki meanwhile have won two previous editions of the 8 Hours, the first back in 1993 and most recently in the 2019 race.

Haslam said: “For me, to go back to the Suzuka 8 Hours is fantastic. I have had a lot of success there and managed to win it three times. Johnny and I won it back 2019, the last time it was run, so to go back in 2022 I have really high expectations.

“To be teamed back up with Johnny and also Alex, who was our main rival in 2019 - I think we have the dream team. I am super-excited and can’t wait to get going. The goal for 2022 at Suzuka obviously is to win, and to get back-to-back wins for Kawasaki.”
