The next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this Bank Holiday weekend (30 April – 2 May) at Oulton Park kicks off the Milwaukee Spring Grand Slam as the contenders bid to outperform their rivals for the chance to win a £50,000 prize across the next two events.
Milwaukee, the industry-leading power tool manufacturer, brings an added dimension to the next two rounds with the Milwaukee Spring Grand Slam comprising the Milwaukee Race of the North (Oulton Park) and the Milwaukee King of Donington (20 – 22 May).
The six-race competition during the Bennetts British Superbike Championship’s rounds will award a rider who can deliver a knockout performance and if anyone can successfully deliver six race wins from the next six races, they will claim a £50,000 prize.
The last rider who consecutively won six Bennetts BSB races was double champion Josh Brookes onboard the Milwaukee Yamaha back in 2015. On his way to securing the title that season, he completed the feat twice with victories at Brands Hatch, Thruxton and Cadwell Park followed by Assen, Silverstone and the Brands Hatch season finale.
If a rider can’t score six, then the competition is still alive if they can claim five race wins from the six races, as they will be awarded £25,000.
Leon Haslam achieved that feat most recently in his title-winning 2018 campaign. Haslam won five consecutive races at Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton and followed it up again later in the season across the Cadwell Park and Silverstone races.
Another previous champion, Alex Lowes also secured five in a row back in 2013, putting the Samsung Honda at the top of the podium at Cadwell Park, Donington Park and Assen. 2009 champion Leon Camier was another rider to win five in a row, as did BSB Legend Steve Hislop back in 2001.
The final chance to power to a prize is if a rider can celebrate victory four times across the two events, they will scoop £10,000. Jason O’Halloran accomplished four in a row last season with the hat trick at Thruxton followed by the opening win at Donington Park National.
Scott Redding also celebrated four in a row during his 2019 title-winning season across the Assen and Donington Park rounds, with Shane Byrne winning consecutively at Snetterton and Brands Hatch in 2017 and Leon Haslam at the 2016 races at Cadwell Park and Oulton Park.
