Brookes: “We have a clear direction”

31 March 2022

Josh Brookes held fourth position on the timesheets at the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship R&G Official Test at Snetterton, ending the first track action of 2022 just 0.115s off the leading time.

Brookes returns with the MCE Ducati team for the 2022 season, and utilised the track time to work through a circle of changes, ending the opening test confident with the direction ahead of the next test.

Brookes said: “The final day of the Snetterton test was critical as I said at the end of day two, to finish the circle of changes. I feel that what we did in the last session wasn’t particularly important for the lap time that we could achieve, but more the feeling that I was getting from the bike - how it reacted to the changes and things like that.

“So now, for me it is quite clear what direction we need to go to pursue the good lap times and the performance that I think I can deliver. It is the data that we got by finishing off the final session, that finalised that.

“Day two’s bike I was happy with and I was able to do competitive times, the final session’s bike was more difficult to ride, so that gives everyone in the team a clear direction of which way to go and I think moving forward now we can make some good progress.”
