Josh Brookes stormed to the top of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Official Test times at Snetterton this afternoon, becoming the first riders to lap in the 1m:46s barrier on the MCE Ducati and 0.457s under the existing lap record.
At the start of the second session, Bradley Ray had set the initial benchmark for the Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW as he continued his momentum from yesterday, with Tommy Bridewell and Rory Skinner inside the top three.
Bridewell then surged to the top before the session was briefly red flagged for debris and when it resumed there was 0.452s between the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider and Ray at the top with perfect conditions at the Norfolk circuit.
Brookes went to the top with just under 20 minutes of the session remaining, putting him 0.117s ahead of Bridewell. However with just over 10 minutes on the clock, the former double champion set the fastest lap of the test, posting the only lap time in the 1m:46s barrier.
Danny Kent had climbed the timesheets to hold second place for the Buildbase Suzuki team, continuing his return to the action following his injury from last season, pushing Bridewell into third place at the chequered flag.
Jason O'Halloran maintained his position as the leading McAMS Yamaha rider posting the fourth fastest time with an improvement in the final three minutes of the session to move ahead of Christian Iddon.
Tom Sykes continued his progress with the MCE Ducati team in sixth place, holding the advantage from Glenn Irwin and former World Superbike Championship rival Leon Haslam, who continues his comeback with the local VisionTrack Kawasaki team.
Peter Hickman and Ray completed the top ten, pushing Skinner and rookie Tom Neave into eleventh and twelfth respectively, with defending champion Tarran Mackenzie in 13th position.
