Sam Cox will make his first appearance in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone this weekend, making his debut with the NP Motorcycles BMW Team, who have parted company with Joey Thompson.
Cox has been a regular contender in the British Championship paddock for several years, competing previously in the Supersport and Superstock classes, and in addition featured in the Ducati TriOptions Cup.
Cox said: “I am really excited to make the challenging step up to the Superbike class and I can't wait to get started with the team. I already know the guys in the garage and I'm really looking forward to learning the bike and developing it with them.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me and it has always been a dream of mine to be on a BSB grid and participate in the most competitive championship in the country. I can't wait to get out there at Silverstone this weekend, so a massive thank you to the team and the sponsors for making this a possibility.”
Team Owner Neil Pearson commented: “As a team it's never ideal changing riders during the season, but we are excited and keen to see Sam make his debut on the NP Motorcycles Superbike.
