O’Halloran endures difficult weekend at Oulton Park to lose standings lead

27 September 2021

Jason O'Halloran had a weekend to forget at the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown at Oulton Park, securing a single podium finish as his points lead disintegrated following two crashes.

The McAMS Yamaha rider held a 30-point lead heading into the Showdown, but with a second place finish as his teammate Tarran Mackenzie turned up the heat, means he relinquished the advantage with two points separating the pair ahead of this weekend’s action at Donington Park.

O’Halloran said: “It was a difficult weekend. We were leading the race on Saturday and crashed; I then led every lap of race two and then had another crash in race three.

“It’s not been ideal, I struggled a little bit with the feeling of the front of the bike all weekend and it caught me out twice. I just need to reset, go through things away from the track and make a plan for Donington Park to come out stronger.”
