Peter Hickman again qualified for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown when it counted at Silverstone, securing the FHO Racing BMW team their first appearance in their debut campaign.
Hickman starts the Showdown in fifth position and after a double win at Cadwell Park, the Lincolnshire contender is determined to bounce back from a tough Silverstone as he bids to close down the advantage of the riders ahead of him.
Oulton Park was where Hickman and the team celebrated their first podium finish together, and he heads to next weekend’s crucial opening three races of the Showdown hungry to add to his podium tally.
Hickman said: “I am obviously really happy to be in the Showdown, especially in the first season for the FHO Racing BMW team - they have done a fantastic job all year to get us into this positon and we are ready for the final fight.
“To get into the Showdown with the new BMW M 1000 RR was a big achievement, especially with a new team and I am looking forward now to the three rounds that make up the Showdown. I really think they should suit us and our bike.
“We know we were quite fast at Oulton Park even at the first round and we have worked on a serious amount of development since then!
“I think we should be in with a really good shout and we can go into the Showdown wanting to fight for the podium again to try and close the gap to the riders ahead of us.
“Let’s hope we can give our fans and everyone who supports the team something proper to cheer for from now on.”
