Glenn Irwin was back at the top of the times in this morning’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship warm up at Donington Park, holding off a late charge from Tarran Mackenzie to keep the Honda Racing team ahead.
Glenn Irwin had set the pace on only his third lap of the session, which would not be bettered by his championship rivals, despite the top 14 riders being covered by only 0.985s ahead of today’s two races. However, yesterday’s race winner Jason O'Halloran surprisingly posted the 18th fastest time, 1.210s adrift.
Mackenzie’s final lap on the McAMS Yamaha moved him into second place, pushing Kyle Ryde on the Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW back into third after a strong performance for the local contender.
Andrew Irwin was the leading SYNETIQ BMW in fourth place, whilst teammate Danny Buchan was sidelined early in the session with a technical problem.
Christian Iddon again led the VisionTrack Ducati charge in fifth place, whilst teammate Josh Brookes was 17th at the chequered flag and 1.063s adrift of the fastest lap in the session.
Rory Skinner ensured Team Green were in the top six this morning for the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team, narrowly ahead of Peter Hickman and Ryan Vickers.
The Buildbase Suzuki pairing of Danny Kent and Gino Rea completed the top ten.
